Here, high-altitude charm meets modern comforts—think chic, ski-in/ski-out chalets, buzzing après-ski spots, and world-class dining. Luxury Chalets in Val Thorens

Val Thorens sits at the head of the Belleville Valley, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The resort was purpose-built in the 1970s, initially with a rather utilitarian design, but it has undergone significant upgrades in recent years. Architectural improvements and investments have added charm and sophistication to its appearance, with exposed wood and stone now gracing many of its newer buildings.

Val Thorens accommodation has evolved significantly over the years, offering a range of options from high-end luxury chalets to self-catered apartments. Luxury chalets in Val Thorens such as Chalet La Datcha offer lavish interiors, private spas, and exceptional service.

The highest resort in Europe has come a long way since those humble concrete jungle beginnings, and it now boasts a crop of Michelin-starred restaurants, fresh-faced hotels, and some of the best snow and terrain in the whole of the French Alps.

Luxury Ski Holidays in Val Thorens

Situated on a sunny, west-facing slope, Val Thorens is a resort of superlatives: it is the highest altitude resort in Europe, the highest point in Les 3 Vallées ski area and home to France’s fastest lift system. The village is relatively small, making it easy to get around on foot, and is organised around several main streets lined with shops, restaurants, and ski rental facilities. Purpose-built, everything is designed with practicality in mind, so you can quickly get from your accommodation to the lifts and back.

At the heart of the resort, the Place Caron is a bustling square that acts as the central hub. Here, you’ll find a variety of amenities, from cafes and shops to lively après-ski spots.

I think what really sets Val Thorens apart is the sense of community and the buzz of the town. From vibrant après-ski at La Folie Douce to relaxing evenings in a cosy chalet, it's the perfect blend of high energy and comfort.
