St Moritz is located in the Upper Engadin in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. The nearest international airports to St Moritz are Zürich and Milan.

By Road:
Despite its secluded location in the heart of the Grisons Alps, St Moritz is extremely well connected via various transport options. The closest international airports are Zurich (ZRH) and Milan Malpensa (MXP), each about a three-hour drive away, whilst Munich is approximately four hours away. We work with several trusted private transfer companies and are happy to recommend or book airport transfers on your behalf. If you prefer not to drive over mountain passes, you can transport your car through the Vereina Tunnel via train, which takes just 18 minutes from Prättigau (Selfranga) to Engadine (Saglianes).

By Train:
In our opinion, one of the best ways to reach St. Moritz is by train. The Glacier Express and Bernina Express, both UNESCO World Heritage railway lines, provide truly spectacular views. Another scenic option is the Rhaetian Railway (RhB), which connects St. Moritz to Chur via the Albula Pass and to Tirano (Italy) via the Bernina Pass. By Plane & Helicopter:

Located in the nearby town of Samedan, it is also possible to fly quickly and comfortably to Engadin Airport by private jet, charter flight or air taxi. The airport is located just 10 minutes from St Moritz. Direct flights and helicopter transfers to various European destinations can also be arranged.

St Moritz sits at an altitude of 1,856 metres above sea level with ski slopes ranging from 1,730 metres to 3,305 metres.

The winter season in St Moritz runs from late November to early April. With 88 slopes covering 350 kilometres and reaching up to 3,057 metres above sea level, the area is reliably snow-sure. Additionally, there are 170 snow cannons, and 80% of the slopes are equipped with snow-making facilities to assist towards the end of the season.

While St Moritz is renowned for intermediate and advanced skiing, beginners still have excellent opportunities to learn at spots like Corviglia, Salastrains, or Celerina. St Moritz is also home to some excellent ski schools, so you can be sure you are in the best hands when it comes to learning the basics. With plenty of family-friendly hotels and luxury chalets in St Moritz, the resort makes a fantastic base for a family holiday. Children are welcome in all restaurants, although of course some are better suited to families than others. We suggest Salastrains, Glünetta and Trutz in the Corviglia ski area and Alpetta and Kuhstall in the Corvatsch ski area. In town, afternoon tea at Badrutt’s Palace and Suvretta House always goes down well. Family-friendly activities include ice skating, sledding and picturesque walks. Indoors, we suggest visiting the restored Scala cinema or Ovaverva with its waterslides and choice of swimming pools.

Aside from skiing, St Moritz hosts a range of winter activities such as curling, ice skating and thrilling events like the Cresta Run and the Olympic Bob Run. Summer in St Moritz features outdoor pursuits for all ages. From horse riding and paragliding to biking along beautiful cycling trails or sailing on the lakes of the Upper Engadine, St Moritz is a haven for sporting enthusiasts. There are multiple climbing locations to explore and golfers can enjoy playing on Switzerland’s oldest golf course at the Engadin Golf Club. The resort hosts regular Kid’s Sports Camps and there are opportunities to go kitesurfing or river rafting too.

St Moritz hosts a range of exiting events throughout the season, including the Snow Polo World Cup, White Turf, the St Moritz Gourmet Festival and Cricket on Ice. Car enthusiasts will enjoy the summer with automotive events such as the British Classic Car Meeting in July, Passione Engadina in August and the Bernina Gran Turismo in September. For music lovers, there are two fantastic festivals: Festival da Jazz and the Engadin Festival.
