It features a quaint, car-free mediaeval centre and offers stunning mountain views from the foot of the legendary Hahnenkamm and Kitzbüheler Horn. The KitzSki area spans both Kitzbühel and Kirchberg, with 233 kilometres of slopes to explore.

How to get to Kitzbühel?

The closest airports to Kitzbühel are Salzburg and Innsbruck, each less than a one-and-a-half-hour drive away. Munich Airport is another option, located around two hours away by car. If you’re driving, the route is well-maintained and clearly signposted. Alternatively, you can take a train directly to Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm Bahnhof station.

How high is Kitzbühel?

The resort is situated at an altitude of 800 metres above sea level, with most ski slopes on the Hahnenkamm lying between 1,500 and 1,900 metres. The KitzSki area reaches a peak elevation of 2,000 metres at the top of the Zweitausender lift.

What is the snow like in Kitzbühel?

Despite the town's relatively low altitude, the resort's respectable elevation and northwest orientation ensure reliable conditions from December to April. To maintain good snow coverage, particularly in the lower areas, the resort has implemented 1,200 snow cannons that cover 90% of the slopes.

Is Kitzbühel suitable for beginners?

With a choice of ski schools, 10 free practice lifts, and 102 kilometres of ‘easy’ pistes, Kitzbühel is an excellent resort for beginner skiers. There is a dedicated beginners' zone at the base of the Hahnenkamm ski area, and once you have progressed from the nursery slopes, the Horn offers a variety of easy blue runs. If you wish to venture further up the mountain, flexible lift passes, including hourly options, are available.

Is Kitzbühel a family-friendly ski resort?

Also in January is the Snow Polo World Cup. Musical events include Sound Escape in March and the Kitzbühel Music Festival in August. From late November, Kitzbüheler Advent fills the town with beautifully decorated stalls offering Tyrolean culinary delicacies and traditional handicrafts.
