Bursting with alpine charm, Lech has continually impressed us over the years. Every Leo Trippi team member returns from a luxury ski holiday to Lech singing its praises, captivated by its picturesque riverside setting, distinctive Austrian architecture, superb skiing and excellent restaurants. Known as one of the world’s most exclusive resorts, with past visitors including Princess Diana, the Dutch royal family and Monaco’s Princess Caroline, Lech still remains gloriously understated.

Luxury Ski Chalets Lech

Originally established as Tannberg am Lech by the Walser people from the Canton of Valais in western Switzerland, Lech has never forgotten its pastoral roots. You will find this Austrian mountain village appeal preserved in every aspect of the resort, from the warm hospitality to the rustic slopeside huts and mouth-watering cuisine.

Over the years, luxury ski chalets in Lech have expanded both in quality and quantity. While lodging used to cluster around the church and river, it now extends to the car-free satellite village of Oberlech, accessible via the 80-person Bergbahn cable car.

Lech offers a laid-back luxury that feels like a well-kept secret.

Luxury Ski Holidays in Lech

Located in the Vorarlberg region of Austria, Lech shares its ski area with the neighbouring village of Zürs and nearby Warth-Schröken. The resort is also connected to St Anton and its linked villages of Stuben and St Christoph, providing access to 305 km of pistes and 200 km of off-piste runs.

Set at a modest altitude of 1,450m, Lech nevertheless receives up to twice as much snow as some of its French rivals. Known as the ‘cradle of Alpine skiing’, Lech ski resort has plenty of entertainment for skiers of all levels. With a vast selection of blue and red runs, intermediate skiers will benefit most from luxury ski holidays in Lech. We recommend spending half a day skiing the White Ring on your first day to get a feel for the resort’s potential. This 22 km clockwise circular route is the perfect introduction to the adventures that await on subsequent ski days.

Nestled along the banks of the Lech River, the village is characterised by its traditional Austrian architecture featuring wooden chalets and buildings adorned with intricate carvings and colourful frescoes. The village centre is compact and easy to explore on foot.

Lech is such a charming resort. It truly embodies laid-back luxury, combining authenticity and local culture with gourmet restaurants and state-of-the-art chalets. Some of my favourite spots include Aurelio for a special lunch or dinner (make sure you visit the resident alpacas), and the family-run Hagen delicatessen to stock up on delicious cheeses and cured meats.
