Luxury Ski Chalets Lech

Lech is located in the Vorarlberg region of Austria. Together with St Anton, Zürs, St Christoph, Stuben and Warth-Schröcken, Lech is part of the Ski Arlberg area giving access to more than 300 km of slopes and 200 km of open terrain.

The most popular airports for getting to Lech are Innsbruck (115 km), Friedrichshafen (128 km) and Zurich (194 km). The closest airport to Lech is Altenrhein (100 km) but it has few international flights.

By Car:

An airport transfer from Zurich to Lech takes around 2.5 hours whilst Innsbruck is closer at around 1.5 hours. We work with trusted partners and can book transfers on your behalf or provide recommendations should you wish to book these yourself.

If you are driving and staying in Oberlech you will need to park your car at the Anger underground car park in Lech before taking the cable car to Oberlech. There’s also a car park for electric vehicles in the centre of Lech with capacity for 23 cars.

By Rail:

The closest two train stations are Langen am Arlberg (15 km) and St Anton am Arlberg (20 km). Trains from Zurich to these two stations depart every two hours and the journey takes around three hours. There are also connections from Zurich and Munich which take a little longer. From Langen or St Anton, you can take a bus or taxi ride of around 20-30 minutes.

Lech sits at an altitude of 1,450m with the slopes reaching 2,450m. In terms of snow-cover, Lech is one of Austria’s safest bets with a high average snowfall.

Despite its relatively modest altitude, Lech receives up to twice as much snow as some of its French competitors. However, much of Lech’s local terrain is south-facing, meaning that snow conditions are typically optimal in early to mid-winter. To guarantee consistent conditions throughout the season, 60% of pistes are equipped with snow-making facilities.

Lech is an excellent destination for beginner skiers with a wide range of gentle slopes, professional ski schools and a friendly atmosphere. There are some great learning areas which are easily accessible from the village as well as plenty of longer blues to progress to. We recommend booking a group or private lesson during your stay and can recommend our preferred ski schools in resort to suit your needs.

Lech has plenty to amuse families both on and off the piste. All ski schools accept children from approximately three years of age whilst the Lech Kids Club accepts children from age two. Babysitting services are also available in resort. Families can enjoy horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating and tobogganing together. There are plenty of family-friendly restaurants, hotels and chalets in Lech too.

Winter activities in Lech include tobogganing, horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating and tandem paragliding flights. There are also 40 km of well-groomed paths for winter hiking to explore. In summer you can enjoy biking, trail running, fishing, hiking and yoga. We recommend you invest in a Lech Card available from June to October. This gives you access to summer cable cars, children’s adventures, the outdoor pool and an hour’s bowling at the sports park.lech amongst other benefits.

Winter events in Lech include “Der Weiße Ring” legendary ski race circuit in January and Tanzcafê Alrberg music festival in April. Events in summer include the Arlberg Classic Car Rally, Lech Classic Festival and the White Ring Trail Challenge.
