One of our favourite French ski resorts, Val d’Isere never fails to impress us with its snow-sure slopes, traditional Savoyard architecture and luxury chalets. Several members of the Leo Trippi team began their skiing journeys here, giving us an intimate knowledge of this popular luxury ski resort. We can provide insider tips on the top ski schools, the best spots for après-ski and unique family-friendly activities you might not have considered before.

Luxury Chalets in Val d'Isere

Originally a small farming village, Val d’Isere has developed into a modern Alpine resort while still retaining its village feel and strong sense of tradition. Situated at the end of the Tarentaise valley, Val d’Isere shares its slopes with neighbouring Tignes, offering over 300 km of slopes that reach up to 3,456m at the top of Le Fornet cable car.

When it comes to Val d’Isere chalet rentals, there’s no shortage of options. Catered chalets in Val d’Isere like Chalet O Valala and Chalet Blackcomb are popular choices, while self-catered apartments and residences such as Alaska Lodge offer the flexibility to dine out at the resort’s diverse restaurants in the evenings.

Val d’Isere’s ski chalets are spread across several picturesque hamlets, many of which are conveniently connected to the main resort. If you prefer staying in the heart of the action, we highly recommend staying in the centre of the village. Here, you’ll discover charming stone and wood chalets, narrow winding streets, a beautiful baroque church and a lively central square. Everything you need is within walking distance, including shops, bars, restaurants and ski lifts.

For families, Chalet Lhotse is an exceptional choice - an impressive six-bedroom chalet boasting magnificent views and an opulent spa.

Val d’Isere truly deserves a reputation for more than its 159 pistes — with Finnish ice-floating, sparkling cabaret shows, ultra-luxury penthouse lodges, and an internationally acclaimed music festival, it’s the perfect spot for winter escapism.

Luxury Ski Holidays in Val d'Isere

Nestled at the end of the Tarentaise Valley near the Italian border, Val d’Isere seamlessly blends mountain village charm with guaranteed snow cover, diverse runs for all abilities and exceptional off-piste opportunities. One of the many reasons we love Val d’Isere ski resort is its ongoing commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and amenities. Between 2017 and 2022, a 200 million euro development transformed the area, improving accommodation options, piste access, and visitor facilities.

More recently, Val d’Isere has continued to innovate, introducing four-hour lift passes for those adopting a more “hybrid” style of ski holiday. The resort has also created Gypaète, an adventure slope inspired by land art and the local fauna, and developed Val Square, a revamped shopping centre designed to serve visitors and residents in the heart of La Daille.

With 300 km of pistes, the linked ski area of Val d’Isere and Tignes is one of the largest in France. Offering seven different points of access to the mountain from the centre, Le Fornet and La Daille, even peak periods see minimal queues.

Luxury ski holidays in Val d’Isere are ideal for mixed-ability groups and families with wide open runs, some steeper skiing and tree-lined pistes.

The Espace Killy is such a vast ski area, full of exciting piste, amazing restaurants and beautiful views. If you don't know the area well then getting a ski guide is a must, regardless of your skiing ability. The local guides are a superb and fun way to explore the ski area and get top local tips at the same time.
