With its dependable snow cover, extensive terrain, and long season, Tignes ski resort stands out as one of Europe’s top winter destinations. Nestled in the French Alps, Tignes boasts a wide variety of pistes, world-class facilities, and activities suited for all ages, making it a top choice for luxury ski holidays and family adventures.

Luxury Chalets in Tignes

Tignes is divided into five distinct villages: Val Claret, Tignes Le Lac, Tignes Le Lavachet, Tignes 1800 (Les Boisses), and Tignes Les Brévières, each offering unique experiences and levels of access to the slopes. Though purpose-built in the 1960s, Tignes has made recent efforts to enhance its architecture and aesthetics, blending modern luxury with its alpine setting.

Situated near the Grande Motte Glacier, Val Claret offers easy access to high-altitude skiing and is arguably the liveliest village in Tignes, bustling with shops, restaurants, and après-ski options. Located just down the road from Val Claret, Tignes Le Lac is the resort’s social hub with a wide range of Tignes accommodation options, including many luxury chalets such as Chalet SNEG and the ski-in/ski-out Chalet Arolla.

Off-piste descents beckon wherever you look, and range from easy, first-time powder fields to challenging terrain that will test the strongest legs and steadiest nerves...Never mind that the architecture is big and blocky: that’s primarily a reflection of the resort’s tight, avalanche-safety zones. Focus instead on the bright, white joy of skiing such ego-boosting slopes and you’ll barely notice.

Luxury Ski Holidays in Tignes

Tignes is a unique French Alpine resort with a reputation for reliable snow, modern infrastructure, and a relaxed, vibrant atmosphere. Unlike many Alpine villages, Tignes' origins as a ski resort began in the 1950s when the original village was submerged to build a hydroelectric dam. Now, Tignes comprises five distinct villages with an incredible 300 km of slopes to explore.

With a maximum altitude of 3,456m at the top of the Grande Motte cable car, Tignes enjoys excellent snow cover, making the resort popular for late-season holidays and summer skiing.

Tignes is a resort that combines high-altitude, snow-sure skiing with the convenience and accessibility of a purpose-built layout. It’s a great choice for serious skiers but equally appealing for families, with modern facilities and excellent après options.
