Located at an altitude of 1,300 metres, Courchevel Le Praz is one of the most charming and traditional villages in the Courchevel Valley. It’s a world away from the glitz and glamour of its higher-altitude neighbour, Courchevel 1850. Instead, Le Praz exudes authentic Alpine charm, with narrow cobblestone streets, traditional chalets, and a slower pace of life that appeals to those looking for a more peaceful and serene ski experience.

I’ve always preferred to stay further down the valley in more affordable Courchevel Moriond or Le Praz, which are smaller in scale and have much more of a village atmosphere.

Luxury Chalets in Courchevel Le Praz

At the base of Courchevel, Le Praz is a charming and authentic French Alpine village, renowned for its picturesque traditional wooden chalets, giving it a true "chocolate box" appeal. Despite the glitz and glamour that has enveloped much of Courchevel in recent years, Le Praz has managed to retain its authenticity. It operates more as a close-knit community than a resort, with a strong permanent population.

Le Praz gondola offers a direct link from the village to Courchevel 1850 in just a few minutes, making it convenient for skiers to reach the main slopes of the resort. This seamless connection to Courchevel 1850 has made Le Praz a popular choice for visitors looking for better-value accommodation whilst still having access to a vast network of ski runs across the entire Three Valleys area.

Luxury Ski Holidays in Courchevel Le Praz

Courchevel Le Praz ski resort offers direct access to the vast Three Valleys ski area, which boasts over 600 km of interconnected pistes. The village itself is picturesque, with narrow streets, old farmhouses, and chalets that evoke the feel of a traditional mountain village. Despite its quiet nature, it provides all the essential services, including ski rentals, shops, and excellent restaurants.

One of Le Praz’s major advantages is its direct access to the vast ski area of Courchevel and the Three Valleys. The Praz Gondola takes skiers up to Courchevel 1850 in just a few minutes, offering seamless access to some of the best skiing in the world.

Despite its lower altitude, Le Praz is a fantastic choice for families and beginners. While it may not have the same abundance of beginner slopes as Courchevel 1850, it offers a quieter and more laid-back environment, which is perfect for families with young children or if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts.

For skiers and snowboarders looking to maximize their budget without sacrificing access to one of the world’s most famous ski areas, Le Praz offers an ideal balance of affordability, charm, and convenience.
