Adler Hitta is the ultimate sunny-day destination in Zermatt, bringing together lively vibes, delicious food, and stunning mountain views. Perched above the slopes, this stylish hangout exudes a laid-back beach bar atmosphere, complete with a DJ spinning upbeat tunes to set the perfect après-ski mood. Their motto, "Chill and Grill," says it all – this is a place to kick back, soak up the sun, and enjoy fantastic food in a fun and relaxed setting. The panoramic views from Adler are breathtaking, offering a picture-perfect backdrop of snow-capped peaks and the iconic Matterhorn. As for the menu, their rotisserie chicken is legendary – crispy, juicy, and packed with flavour, it’s an absolute must-try. Pair it with a refreshing drink from their extensive bar, and you’ve got the recipe for an unforgettable alpine experience.

Al Bosco

Al Bosco, nestled within the Riffelalp Resort, offers a charming Italian dining experience with stunning views of the Matterhorn. This alpine eatery presents a menu that will satisfy all tastes, from tender meats to delicate carpaccio, all served at a lofty altitude of 2,222 metres. Its simple interiors create a cosy atmosphere, perfect for larger groups, while the sunny terrace provides an inviting space for al fresco dining. The menu showcases traditional Swiss dishes with a Mediterranean twist, featuring must-try plates like porcini mushroom soup encased in puff pastry, fillet of lamb wrapped in bacon with rosemary sauce, and indulgent local truffle specialities. The mountain macaroni au gratin served with apple sauce is another crowd-pleaser. Perfect for families, Blatten also serves fantastic pizzas and hearty salads, and hosts winter fondue nights every Wednesday—an unmissable alpine experience. Booking is essential.

Chez Vrony

Perched in the scenic hamlet of Findeln, Chez Vrony is a timeless gem where rustic charm meets refined dining. The sun-soaked terrace, complete with cosy sheepskins, offers breathtaking views of the Matterhorn, making it the ideal spot for al fresco dining after a morning on the slopes. Whether skiing in or arriving on foot (confident walkers only), reservations are highly recommended.

Findlerhof

Perched in the charming hamlet of Findeln between the Sunnegga and Blauherd ski areas, this rustic mountain gem is the epitome of Alpine dining. A short downhill stroll from the piste rewards visitors with jaw-dropping Matterhorn views, impeccable service, and a menu that’s nothing short of exceptional. Known as “Franz and Heidi’s” after its welcoming owners, the restaurant combines Swiss tradition with Italian influences, crafting a culinary experience that’s both hearty and refined. Signature dishes like the tender lamb and velvety truffle ravioli are complemented by fresh salads, rich soup, and an extensive wine list. Findlerhof is a must-visit for foodies and skiers alike. Fluhalp

Nestled on the slopes between Rothorn and Gant, Fluhalp boasts a sun-drenched terrace that provides an exquisite panorama of the Matterhorn, while cosy indoor seating ensures comfort on colder days. Known for its lively atmosphere, Fluhalp often features live bands during the season, adding to its charm. The menu showcases a mix of local and seasonal delights, with hearty salads, rösti, and pasta dishes taking centre stage. However, the star of the show is undoubtedly the cheese fondue – often hailed as one of the best in Zermatt.

The menu showcases classic dishes with a modern touch, complemented by a thoughtfully selected wine list. Don’t miss the Paradise Schmarrn, a signature dessert whose recipe remains a closely guarded secret. Non-skiers can reach @Paradise with a picturesque 50-minute walk from Zermatt via Winkelmatten or by taking the signposted trail from the top of Sunnegga towards Findeln.

Stafelalp

Nestled beneath the imposing north face of the Matterhorn, Stafelalp combines spectacular scenery with exceptional Swiss cuisine. Take the home run from Furi and turn left at the signpost above Blatten to discover this fantastic gourmet restaurant in the rustic surroundings of a 350-year-old farmyard. The menu features standout homemade pasta and tortellini, hearty potato gratins, nourishing soups, and vibrant salads. The restaurant is also famous for its Valais wines and desserts, particularly the indulgent crème schnitte—an absolute must-try. Whether you ski in or take a scenic walk, Zum See promises an unforgettable dining experience in a setting brimming with Alpine character.

Set just above the lift station, Ristorante Bontadini offers dramatic mountain views in a casual yet charming atmosphere. Renowned for its excellent Italian cuisine, the restaurant serves up tasty, uncomplicated dishes in a welcoming setting. Whether you're taking a break from skiing or walking up from the village, this spot is perfect for a leisurely lunch, with the promise of both great food and an even better view.

Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni

Earning its first Michelin star in 2019, Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni celebrates the rich diversity of regional produce with a refined twist. Situated in the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof in Zermatt's town centre, the restaurant's classically elegant dining room features fine wood panelling, creating a warm yet sophisticated atmosphere. The restaurant masterfully reinvents traditional cuisine through its two exceptional set menus: Heimat, inspired by local flavours, and Fernweh, offering a culinary journey to distant lands. Guests can choose between four and six courses, with expertly paired wines to elevate the experience.

After Seven

Located within the Backstage Hotel, dive into an inventive surprise menu curated by Florian Neubauer's talented team. The open kitchen takes centre stage, where you can witness the magic unfold, and for a special touch, some dishes are even finished tableside. Menus are presented with a twist—listing only the main ingredients—leaving you to decide the number of courses, ranging from four to six. The interior reflects the artistic vision of owner Heinz Julen, blending sleek modern design with striking artwork and a centrally positioned fireplace that enhances the cosy yet chic atmosphere. After Seven is not only about dinner. If you're visiting earlier in the day, indulge in an exquisite selection of cakes, tarts, and afternoon tea until 5 p.m.

Bodega Bachus

The Bodega Bacchus at Hotel Alex provides an exceptional dining experience in an elegant wine cellar surrounded by rare vintage bottles. Seating up to 22 guests at a grand, opulent table, it’s the ideal setting for celebrations. The menu showcases a delightful mix of Valais specialities, international flavours, and gourmet creations, all paired with an outstanding selection of wines from around the globe. Reservations are essential

Brasserie Uno

This lively and intimate restaurant offers a dining experience reminiscent of a trendy Berlin or New York spot. The setting is perfect for food enthusiasts with its cosy, closely packed tables, casual atmosphere, and open kitchen. Diners are treated to a carefully crafted multi-course surprise menu that celebrates regional and seasonal ingredients. Expect to linger for around 3.5 hours to fully enjoy this fine dining experience, accompanied by excellent wine pairings. Brasserie Uno does not offer an à la carte menu or children's meals.

Potato

Located on Zermatt's bustling Bahnhofstrasse, Potato offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where friendly service invites you to sit back and savour the evening. The menu combines Valais and French cuisine with a modern twist, using fresh, homemade dishes crafted from carefully selected, locally sourced ingredients within a 99-kilometre radius. Wine lovers will delight in the exclusive selection of Valais wines, including rare vintages that surprise even seasoned connoisseurs.

Ristorante Capri

Le Capri offers Michelin-starred Mediterranean cuisine on the fourth floor of Le Petit Cervin, part of the Mont Cervin Palace. Helmed by Chef Salvatore Elefante, who also runs the award-winning Il Riccio in Capri, the restaurant delights diners with summery flavours crafted from high-quality ingredients. The elegant decor and professional service create a refined atmosphere, though some might find the ambience slightly subdued. Guests can enjoy stunning views alongside dishes that balance authenticity and sophistication.

The Omnia

Perched above Zermatt, The Omnia restaurant offers a modern, sophisticated setting with breathtaking views accessible via a lift from the pedestrian area. Executive Chef André Kneubühler crafts creative and experimental cuisine, focusing on premium, sustainably sourced regional ingredients. The à la carte menu highlights a vegetarian concept, with the option to enhance dishes with select fish or meat specialities. For an unforgettable culinary journey, opt for the "OMNIA Experience" – a four or five-course surprise menu paired with perfectly matched beverages.

Brown Cow Pub

Casual and welcoming, Brown Cow is the go-to spot for a quick bite or a hearty snack. Known for the best burgers in town, the menu also features sandwiches, hot dogs, soups, and salads—all freshly prepared and perfect for any time of day.

Da Nico

Da Nico offers an authentic Italian dining experience with a modern touch, specialising in wood-fired pizzas and freshly made pasta dishes. Inspired by the flavours of southern Italy, particularly Naples, the restaurant is known for its warm, friendly service and delicious, high-quality cuisine. The wood-fired pizzas and carefully crafted pasta are prepared with fresh ingredients, capturing the true essence of Italian cooking.

Grampis

Pavillon Zermatt

Pavillon Zermatt is a versatile venue offering something for every occasion. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee in the morning, enjoying a family-friendly meal, having a casual lunch, or celebrating a special event, Pavillon caters to all tastes. Recently rebuilt for the season and operated by Hotel Post, it features a variety of spaces, including a cosy coffee bar, trendy restaurant, lively sports bar, and homely club venue. Located by the ice skating rink (and volleyball courts in summer) with a kids' playground nearby, it’s the perfect spot to relax and socialise.

Zermatt Kitchen

Zermatt Kitchen offers a trendy and casual dining experience spread across two buildings: Brücke and Ascot. The venue provides a variety of options, including brunch served until 4 pm, featuring freshly baked pastries (don't miss their popular croissants), eggs, pancakes and sharing platters. In the evening, Brücke transforms into "Zermatt Pho," offering delicious Vietnamese cuisine. Over at Ascot, you’ll find a modern take on international dishes during dinner, with a spacious terrace and lounge area to enjoy your meal.

Ferdinand breathes fresh air into traditional Valais cuisine by exclusively using Swiss products, many sourced directly from the Valais region. Le Gitan

Since its establishment in 1964 on Zermatt’s Bahnhofstrasse, Gitan Grill has been a favourite among locals and visitors alike. Known for its relaxed and cosy atmosphere, the restaurant serves an enticing selection of grilled specialities cooked to perfection over an open flame. Whether it’s premium meats, fresh seafood, or delicious fondue, every dish is paired beautifully with an excellent wine menu.

Say Cheese

The name says it all: this restaurant is a haven for cheese lovers. Located in the chic and atmospheric Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, the menu features an impressive selection of fondues, varying in intensity, alongside a range of bread for dipping and a top-tier wine list. For non-cheese enthusiasts, the Fondue Chinoise at Say Cheese is a standout, earning rave reviews. Start with a Valais dried meat platter, savour world-famous raclette and fondue made from local cheeses, and finish with the decadent Toblerone fondue—a true Swiss delight.

From Christmas to Easter, Blue Lounge becomes even more special with live music from bands and DJs regularly. And on the days when the sun doesn’t shine, you can always find a cosy seat indoors. Blue Lounge is right next to Blauherd station, making it an ideal meeting point for non-skiers too.

Hennu Stall

Nestled at the bottom of the Furi-Zermatt valley slope, Hennu Stall is the quintessential après-ski destination – the ultimate spot to wrap up a day on the slopes.
